What Is Direct Primary Care,
and Why Does It Change Everything?
Direct primary care (DPC) is a form of membership-based healthcare in which you pay a flat monthly fee directly to your provider's practice. No insurance is involved in your visits. No per-visit billing. No authorization requests that delay your care.
You pay $85/month to Midtown. That covers your primary care. Period.
Your insurance still matters. Keep it for specialists, hospitalizations, and the situations no one plans for. But to walk through our door, you don't need to run anything through your plan, and we don't need it to tell us what's right for you.
Ayesha Nutt spent 11 years inside the hospital system. She watched what insurance-driven care did to patients over time: rushed visits, dismissed symptoms, referrals that took months, and bills that arrived long after anyone remembered what they were for.
She started Midtown because she was done asking permission to do her job.

Do I need insurance to become a Midtown member?
Your insurance is still valuable, and you should keep it for specialist visits, hospitalizations, and unexpected events. But to come see Ayesha at Midtown, you do not need to run anything through your plan. We set our own prices. We make our own clinical decisions. You pay your flat $85/month, and that is it. No claims, no copays, no waiting on a prior authorization to get what you need.
Can I use my HSA or FSA for my DPC membership?
Yes. Your Midtown Primary Care monthly membership fee of $85 is HSA- and FSA-eligible per IRS Publication 969. You can pay your membership directly from your health savings account and use those pre-tax dollars on primary care that actually delivers.
How is DPC different from concierge medicine?
Concierge medicine charges a membership retainer in addition to your insurance co-pays and per-visit billing. DPC replaces fee-for-service entirely. At Midtown, your $85/month is your only cost for primary care. No insurance billing, no copays on top of your membership, no bill after your visit. Concierge adds a premium layer on top of the existing system. DPC removes the system.
Who is a good fit for DPC at Midtown?
DPC works best for adults and families who are tired of 7-minute appointments, dismissed concerns, and bills they did not see coming. It is a strong fit if you manage a chronic condition and want a provider who actually tracks your progress. It works for the uninsured and underinsured who want real access to quality care. And it works for people who are generally healthy and just want a provider who picks up the phone.
Can I cancel my membership at any time?
Yes. There is no annual contract at Midtown. You can cancel your membership at any time with 30 days' notice. The only upfront cost is a one-time $100 enrollment fee, which is collected at sign-up. Because South Carolina requires direct primary care practices to bill in arrears, the enrollment fee ensures your first month of care is covered from day one so you can start accessing your benefits right away.
